The newly-renovated Islamic Center of Davis, located across from campus at 539 Russell Blvd., serves as a place of worship for all Muslims in the community. Headed by Imam Nawaz Khan, ICD is open for all five daily prayers and offers various Islamic programs for Muslims and non-Muslims alike. Islam 101

Learn the about the essentials of Islam in this weekly course. Islam 101 covers the basics of Aqeedah (faith), Taharah (purification) and Salat (prayer).

Benefits of this course:
• Understand the essentials of Islamic belief
• Learn how to make proper ablution and prayer

• Learn core concepts on the path to Salvation


Session Timings: Tuesdays after Maghrib prayer (Roughly 8:00 pm-9:30 pm)

There will be two sessions for Islam 101:
Islam 101 Spring Session: April 29 – June 17 (8 Weeks)
Islam 101 Summer Session: June 24 – August 12 (8 Weeks)

A DETAILED DESCRIPTION ON WHAT WILL BE COVERED THROUGHOUT THE COURSE:

Week 1 – April 29/June 24
Introduction to Islam 101
Importance/Virtues of acquiring Islamic Knowledge

Week 2 – May 6/July 1
Lessons:
-Introduction to Aqeedah (Islamic Creed); its meaning and importance
-The 7 articles of Faith, pt I

Week 3 – May 13/July 8
Lessons:
-The 7 articles of Faith, pt. II
-A brief background on the rulings of the sacred law

Week 4 – May 20/July 15
Lessons:
-Purification and its importance
-Ghusl (The ritual bath)
-Wudhu (Ritual ablution)


Week 5 – May 27/July 22
Lessons:

-Learning how to read the Quran
-Importance of Tajweed (correct reading & pronunciation of the Quran)
-Learning selected Suras (chapters) of the Quran

Week 6 – June 3/July 29
Lessons:
-The Salat (Prayer)
-Conditions of the Prayer
-The integrals of the Prayer
-The necessary actions of the Prayer

Week 7 – June 10/August 5
Lessons:
-The actions disliked in the prayer
-Actions that invalidate the Prayer
-A practical demonstration of the entire Prayer

Week 8 – June 17/August 12
-Test
-Feedback forms
-Graduation Party for students
